New York Central System absorbs Simonton Linies and New York Central and Hunter Valley.

1967

Pacific Coast Lines and Seaboard Air Line merge to form Seaboard Coast Line.

1976

New York Central System and Penrith Railroad merge to form Conrail.

1980

Seaboard Coast Line aquires South Maitland Railway and forms Seaboard System.

1985

Seaboard System merges with Capricorn Lines to form CSX.

1996

Union Pacific aquires Southern Pacific.

1999

CSX aquires Conrail.

Major Events

Simonton Lines was incorporated in 1894. The line ran from Simonton on Martindale Creek south via the Putty and Colo rivers to Sydney

New York Central and Hunter Valley incorporated 1895 to run from the Village of New York to Nelson Bay on Port Stephens

New York Central completes Sydney to Hunter valley link in 1910.

Completion of; Southern from Melbourne to Sydney via Sale in 1923, Union Pacific from Denman to Goondiwindi via Narrabri in 1924 and Southern Pacific from Goondiwindi to Brisbane in 1925 together with New York Central completed a standard gauge Melbourne Sydney Brisbane link.

New York Central completed the new main line from Damien's Crossing to Putty to reduce curvature and grades for through traffic in 1935.

Conrail commeced hauling outer suburban commuter services from Nelson Bay for Trans-Port with ex north american FP45s in 1977. In off peak periods the locomotives were released for coal train haulage.

In 1977 South Maitland Railway commenced hauling Newcastle outer suburban commuter services with surplus FP45s. In off peak periods the locomotives were released to haul coal trains.

In 1980 Conrail commenced power and rolling stock pooling with Seaboard System to move Hunter valley coal to Nelson Bay on Port Stephens.

In 1981 Conrail, Southern Pacific and Union Pacific commenced power pooling on all through Sydney to Brisbane freight via Denman and Narribri.

Conrail completed the clearance up grade on the Denman / Putty division in 1982. This clearance up grade allowed unrestricted operation of double stack container traffic on all Conrail main lines.

Australian National Railways began operating Perth , Adelaide ,Sydney traffic over Conrail from Condobolin to Sydney via Denman in 1983.

Conrail "Quality Conrail" Colour scheme launched in 1992.

CSX shifted all Sydney to Brisbane TOFC, COFC traffc to the fast lightly graded Sydney, Denman, Narribri, Brisbane line in 1999. The trains are hauled by a CSX / UP power pool.

CSX agrees in January 2000 to donate both remaining FP45's; Conrail-Trans Port 200 and South Maitland 52 to Martindale Creek Historical Society on retirement.
