All these photos of exhibits at the Mile End Railway Museum were taken in August 1986. The museum has rolling stock from South Australian Railways and Commonwealth Railways.

SAR Belgian built 1060 mm gauge 400 class 4-8-2-2-8-4 Garrat number 409.
SAR built 1600 mm gauge 1600 hp A1A-A1A diesel locomotive. This was SAR's first main line diesel locomotive. The body design is similar to ALCO's PA series. The Bogies are similar to EMD's E unit bogies. The engine and electrical system was supplied by English Electric.
